FOOD For Lane County is vital to our community response and focusing on that takes precedence right now, so the decision has been made to postpone Chefs’ Night Out, which was scheduled for March 30, 2020.
While there are no recommendations by Lane County Public Health (LCPH) to cancel events or close facilities, FOOD For Lane County believes it is prudent to postpone its biggest fundraising event while the COVID-19 situation is still evolving in our area. This decision is not made lightly.
As part of Lane County’s Emergency Plan, FFLC plays a key role in making sure food is able to be distributed. FFLC recognizes that should COVID-19 become prevalent in Lane County, our staff and volunteers may be affected as well and we need to make sure that all resources are focused on getting food where it is needed.
We have also heard concern from our partners for the event. This decision takes into consideration the needs of 60 plus purveyors, which are scheduled to begin ordering and preparing food for the event, as well as the 1,200 guests and many volunteers associated with the event. We want the event to be a time of enjoyment and celebration, and we believe the ambiance will be best attained at a later date.
Chefs’ Night Out will be held at the Graduate Eugene Hotel on Monday, June 1, 2020. Tickets already purchased for the event will be honored for the new date.
