Antwone Fisher and Dr. Rick Miller are visiting communities across the U.S. and Canada to explore the power of hope and the change needed to help all young people succeed.
During this event, Antwone Fisher and Dr. Rick Miller explore Antwone’s journey from hopelessness to hope through writing and film. They also lead a discussion about the culture of hope. It will help show how communities can use a strategy that models how all children can succeed.
Antwone Fisher is an award-winning writer, poet, and filmmaker. Born in an Ohio prison to an unmarried teenage mother, Antwone became a ward of the state for the next 17 years of his life. His search for identity, meaning, belonging, love, and value has captured the souls of millions of people who have seen his film, Antwone Fisher, read his writing, or heard him speak.
Dr. Rick Miller is the founder and president of Kids at Hope. Kids at Hope is an organization that studies family, school, and community cultures to better understand the dynamics of success and failure. He is a professor of practice and clinical director at Arizona State University’s Center for the Advanced Study and Practice of HOPE. He is also an author and has received numerous awards.
