September 2022

This is an exciting time at FOOD For Lane County. Within a few weeks, renovation work at our Bailey Hill warehouse, office and kitchen will be complete, marking the successful completion of our “Building to Serve” capital campaign that started in 2017.

It wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the local community. Whether gifts were made specifically to the capital campaign or to general programs, they enabled us to purchase and completely renovate a second warehouse at 2345 West Broadway in Eugene and then complete a major renovation and upgrade at our Bailey Hill facility. As a result, we can process more fresh food, receive and distribute more food with greater efficiency and better equip and train volunteers.

Most importantly, FFLC and its partners will be able to help more people like Vanessa, who brought her children — Abraham and Arianna and their friend TJ — to FFLC’s Summer Food Program at Meadow Park in Springfield this summer. “I think it’s great,” said Vanessa about the program. “It definitely helps. It saves on a meal a day. It also gets the kids interacting with other families nearby. We’re happy you’re here.”

One meal a day may not seem like much, but it’s a big help for families with children who are already working hard to afford the rising costs of food, gas and housing.

We need your help to use our expanded capacity to deliver essential programs and services to people like Vanessa and her family.
