Social Media Community Guidelines

Our Purpose

Thank you for participating in Food for Lane County’s social media community! Our mission is to reduce hunger by engaging our community to create access to food. We’re glad you’re here.

We use our social media channels to share important information about food resources, educate our community about hunger in Lane County, celebrate our incredible volunteers and partners, and build a supportive community dedicated to our mission.

To ensure these channels remain a safe, respectful, and helpful space for everyone, we ask that you follow these guidelines.

Community Guidelines

We reserve the right to hide or delete comments or content for any reason. Food for Lane County has a zero-tolerance policy for content that includes;

  1. Harassment, Bullying, or Threats: Personal attacks or threats against our clients, staff, volunteers, partners or other community members will not be tolerated.
  1. Hate Speech & Discrimination: Any comments that are racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist or otherwise derogatory toward any individual or group.
  1. Obscenity or Profanity: Please keep the conversation respectful and family friendly.
  1. Personal & Private Information: To protect your privacy and the privacy of others, do not share personally identifiable information in a public comment.
  1. This includes phone numbers, addresses or specific details about services you or someone else may have received.
  1. Spam, Solicitations or Advertisements: This includes links to commercial websites, personal fundraisers (unless officially partnered with Food for Lane County), or repetitive “copy-and-paste” comments.
  1. Harmful Misinformation: Spreading known falsehoods, scams, or information that could prevent someone from accessing services or endanger our community (e.g., sharing incorrect pantry hours, phishing links, etc.).
  1. Off-Topic Comments: We welcome discussion, but comments that are unrelated to the original post may be hidden or removed to keep the conversation focused for those seeking information.

Individuals who violate these guidelines will be blocked from our pages.

Our Moderation Policy

Food for Lane County’s social media pages are not a public forum for all topics; they are a moderated space dedicated to fulfilling our mission.

Please understand that we do not delete comments simply because they express a different opinion or are critical of our organization, as long as they do not violate the specific rules listed above.

The comments and opinions expressed by followers on our pages are their own and do not reflect the views of Food for Lane County, its staff, board of directors or partners.

Our social media pages are not monitored 24/7.
