Creative Fundraising Ideas

Support our community by raising funds for Food for Lane County! Whether through online fundraising, hosting a food drive, organizing a walk/run or workplace events, your efforts make a difference.

Encouraging donations on your own social channels is one of the easiest and most effective ways to support our mission. Many social media platforms allow fundraising by simply sharing why you support Food for Lane County and providing a link to our donation page. We’re happy to help you create a custom online giving page, too. To set up an online giving site, complete this online form, then you will be emailed a custom link to the page. For more information, check out our food & fund drive toolkit.

Organizations, businesses and schools are encouraged to collect food donations on behalf of Food for Lane County. A great way to do this is by asking for donations in lieu of an entrance fee at an event, for example. Spread the word using social media, flyers and local news outlets for maximum participation. For more information, check out our food & fund drive toolkit.

Encourage co-workers or employees to contribute by organizing workplace events, such as casual dress days, with proceeds benefiting Food for Lane County. Many companies also offer matching gift programs that double employee donations; inquire at your workplace.
Volunteering, sponsoring or attending an established fundraising event is a wonderful way to support Food for Lane County. To learn more about any of the following, visit our news and events page.

  • Empty Bowls Auction – Our annual event includes a live auction, entertainment and an opportunity to donate. It’s one of our major fundraising events, and we would love to see you there!
  • Chefs’ Night Out – Local chefs and restaurants come together for a night of food, drinks and entertainment. Guests can enjoy delicious tastings while supporting our programs.
  • Turkey Trot – In partnership with Level32 Racing, this popular Thanksgiving day 5K/10k run/walk is an opportunity for participants to raise funds through pledges and dress in festive costumes for a fun, family-friendly activity.
  • Empty Bowls Sale – Talented local artists create and donate beautifully handcrafted bowls for purchase. Every bowl sold helps provide meals for community members facing food insecurity.
  • Grilled Cheese Experience – Local restaurants and other food vendors participate in this cheesy event by offering a wide variety of creative grilled cheese sandwiches to their patrons, then donate a portion of the proceeds to Food for Lane County.
